Valentine Nekesa, 19 years old, emerged the winner of the Blaze BYOB show this past Sunday, March 26th 2017. What started out as a 8-week contest with 13 contestants in search of Kenya’s biggest boss, culminated with her crowning as Safaricom’s Blaze BYOBs boss lady.
The show’s first season was well received especially in the target group of youth entreprenuers. Each week contestants battled it out as their business skills were put to test in various challenges. Business vision, team work, customer service and thinking outside the box are some of the episodes titles.
Valentine faced off against Safe Joe and David Kimani in the finale and she emerged victorious. Eve D’Souza, the hostess of the night announced the winner to unleash a wave of euphoria. She walked away with 5million shillings with 3 million in cash and 2 million in business support
Valentine thanked all those who supported her and encouraged young people to follow their dreams and go for their aspirations. She used her journey as an example as one of those who made it after pushing on when others did not believe in her.
“V- designs is ready to serve the plus size woman with fashionable designs and trendy outfits,” she declared on what was next for her.
Viewers got a chance to vote for their favorite contestant via sms and social media sites. Sue Mueni was voted the fav BYOB TV contestant and walked home with an additional KSH 500,000
The show aim was to empower the youth by give them tips on how to be their own bosses. Passions and talents can be a source of earning. The judges of the show were Trushar Khetia, Founder and CEO of the Tria Group of Companies, Kennedy Ombima AKA King Kaka who runs Kaka empire and radio queen Caroline Mutoko.
The finale aired on KTN channel at 7:30pm on Sunday March 26th 2017.
