Kenyan recording artist Jaguar, real name Charles Njagua Kanyi, was in court in Kirinyaga County yesterday, accused of killing two people in a road accident. The charges brought against him are for causing death by dangerous driving.
The accusation is from an incident which took place on March 21st 2017 along the Makutano – Sagana Road, resulting in the death of a cyclist and his passenger. The musician denied the charges and was released on a cash bail, pending the next hearing on June 26th 2017.
According to separate media reports, Jaguar was driving towards Nairobi from Nyeri when he lost control of his vehicle, a Range Rover, and knocked down the two, killing them on the spot.
Charles Njagua Kanyi, who was appointed by the President in 2015 to the Board of the National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), is also an aspirant for the Member of Parliament seat for Starehe Constituency.
