Kenyan vocal boy band Le Band is causing quite a storm on social media and airwaves, with their new single ‘For You‘, a fashion-forward and inspirational track.
Produced by MG Productions, with a video concept developed by Moses Osidiana of Brainworks Films, ‘For You‘ is a montage of sentimental moments professing love and endurance which may well be the anthem of the year, much like Elani‘s ‘Kookoo‘ was back in 2014.
From covers of Sam Smith hits to acapella covers of Electronic Dance Music singles, Le Band has proven that the power of the voice knows no limits. Primarily identifying as pop artists, they don’t want to be limited to one specific genre.
Le Band, which started up as a group of background vocalists, is composed of Fidel Shamma ‘The Captain of Charisma’, Ken Mwendwa ‘The Man with the Bass’, Abraham and Joel Maina ‘Chokora Mjanja’. The group prides itself in perfecting simplicity, favouring the blend of raw vocals and instruments, as evidenced by the distinct sound. One can’t help but draw comparisons to the hugely successful Sauti Sol and their iconic start with the Mwanzo album.
Their previous single featuring Suzziah has amassed close to a quarter of a million YouTube views in under eight months, an uncommon feat for some more established Kenyan artistes. You can thank such a strong showing to a following they’ve created from regular live events as well as a recent feature on NTV‘s The Trend.
