Nairobi is set to host an edition of the elegant global fine-dining and high fashion event Le Dîner en Blanc for the third consecutive year on 25th November 2017, at a venue to be revealed to guests on the day of.
The annual reservation-only secret affair promises another unforgettable evening of elegance, beauty and magic, as it takes over an undisclosed public yet iconic space in the Kenyan capital whose location is only revealed minutes prior to the commencement of the event. Over 450 foodies, fashion and cultural enthusiasts have attended the event in the past and organisers anticipate about 600 are expected this year.
The exclusivity of Le Dîner en Blanc is exemplified in its registration process which involved three stages: Phase 1 is for members who attended the previous year; Phase 2 is for new members who are referred by Phase 1 attendees; and Phase 3 for people who have signed up on the waiting list via the official website.

Bystanders the world over witness groups of guests all dressed in white gathering at specific rallying points all across participating cities. In Nairobi, guided by Dîner en Blanc volunteers, these groups will then converge at one of Nairobi’s most beautiful settings, and travel to the undisclosed location by chartered bus. Thereafter, each guest brings their own gourmet feast and table decor where over the course of the evening, they will eat and celebrate amid music, entertainment and dancing.
The event’s platinum sponsor is Safaricom, as catering is handled by Ki.chen who bring a wealth of experience in food and catering to events. Confirmation and payment to attend Le Dîner en Blanc comes with certain requirements in order to stay true to tradition. These include mandatory participation, regardless of the weather, strict adherence to the elegant and white dress code and prompt arrival at a predetermined location. Guests must bring with them a white tablecloth and white napkins, a picnic basket comprising fine food and proper stemware and white dinnerware, taking note that beer and hard liquor are prohibited, instead a choice of champagne or wine will do.
