Universal Pictures has just unveiled the jaw-biting heart-stopping first trailer to the sequel of its rejuvenated Jurassic Park franchise – ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom‘, and its an interesting look at a post-Jurassic World era that really just reaffirms the notion that the show is not over until the fat lady, or fat dinosaur, sings… or roars.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprise their roles as Navy veteran Owen Grady and Jurassic World Manager Claire Dearing respectively, as the trailer kicks off with what looks like a date, but turns out to be a job-offer to Grady to go back to the Isla that nearly cost all of them their lives.
Executive Producer Steven Spielberg‘s dinosaur utopia looks to a new director for this new feature, employing the suspense-laden skills of ‘The Impossible’ (2012) Director J.A Bayona, who brings in some fresh perspectives into this family-fun thriller.
The trailer reveals the fact that the Jurassic World is still in limbo after the occurrences in the 2015 film, and Ian Malcolm (played by Jeff Goldblum [you may remember him as the Grandmaster from ‘Thor: Ragnarok‘]) who we thought was dead, appears to be appealing to a special tribunal to help save the dinosaur species that is left on an Island that has now become a ticking time bomb.
It sounds like a suicide mission really – going back to a place where you almost died, and which is still infested by a lot of what was trying to kill you, but man’s job, as still top of the food chain and custodian, must help preserve life, however artificial it may be.
There’s plenty of action, and running, and screaming, and yelling, and about-to-eat-you and about-to-save-you dinosaurs in this trailer to keep you on the edge of your seat. And it’s also great to see that Owen still has chemistry with the raptors that he helped bring up and train. Aside from the animatronics, it’s a pleasure seeing Bryce and Chris reunited on screen, as we welcome a new face – Justice Smith, who plays a young scientist.
Elsewhere, the most highly anticipated release of December 2017, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, premieres in Los Angeles tomorrow and is expected to roll out across the World into next week, and in Kenya on 14th December 2017. The film has largely been centered around the escapades of Rey (Daisy Ridley), who now seeks to unravel secrets of the Force under the guidance of Luke Skywalker (played by Mark Hamill). The new international trailer released 2 days ago features a bonus scene.
